During the second quarter of this year, the association was fortunate to get technical and financial assistance from FIATA to conduct a two-week train the trainer course at a local hotel. It all started with an opening ceremony where the tone of the course was set. A total of 33 participants from a wide cross-section of stakeholders attended the course. These included the Chairman of the association’s Training Committee, the Chief Executive officer and the Admin officer, Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agents, Lecturers from Chinhoyi University of Technology, Zimbabwe Revenue Authority officials, Officials from the Ministry of Transport and from Air Zimbabwe Cargo division, a lawyer and SFAAZ current trainers. Only one participant failed to make the grade in the final assessment.
The course was facilitated by Thomas Sim, the Chairman of the FIATA Advisory Body on Vocational Training(ABVT) and team leader from Singapore, Dr Peter Wong from Hong Kong, Dr Vincent Valentine from Switzerland and Mr Uwe Schick from Germany together with Verena Schaer, the FIATA Foundation and ABVT Manager. A seed was sowed in Zimbabwe and SFAAZ will endeavour to water the seed until the country reaps the fruits that the industry will live to enjoy.
